Paper Chain Snake

Here at Earthling Kids, we love reptiles, but we know that a lot of Earthling can be scared of them. We want everybody to love them as much as we do. Here is a fun activity to learn about how a snake is not scary as one might think.

Supply List:

  • Construction Paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Googly eyes

Instructions:

Set-up:

We recommend using a table cover such as the one in our video during all our crafts. This will protect your workspace. You can get this type of table cover in the party section of most department stores for a couple dollars.

Making your snake chain:

  1. Cut your construction paper into one-inch strips as long as the paper.

  2. Cut the number of strips you need for the length of snake you want.

  3. Put a dab of glue on one side of the strip.

  4. Bring the other side of the strip to the glue to make a circle.

  5. Continue by interlocking your circles until your snake is the length you want.

Making your snake’s head:

  1. Cut a triangle with rounded edges

  2. Cut a small rectangle for the tongue

  3. Cut the small rectangle to look like a “Y” on one end to be a forked tongue

  4. Glue the tongue to the back of the rounded triangle

  5. Glue googly eyes to the front side of the triangle

  6. Glue the triangle to finished chain

Personalizing your snake:

  1. For more fun use two or more color of construction paper

  2. Add stickers or any other fun craft decorations.

Clean up:

  1. Clean up any mess from making your snake chain.

  2. Wipe down and remove your table cover.
